Pennsylvania Governor Proclamation for ALSP Awareness Month

A proclamation is an official declaration issued by a person of authority to make certain announcements known. We are honored to have been supported by Pennsylvania Governor, Tom Wolf, to join Sisters’ Hope Foundation in naming March 2022 as ALSP Awareness Month.

Greetings:
It is my pleasure to join with the Sisters Hope Foundation to support March 2022 as ALSP Awareness Month!

Adult-onset Leukoencephalopathy with axonal spheroids and pigmented glia (ALSP) is a degenerative neurological condition caused by white matter lesions that damage the brains protective tissue. Those diagnosed with ALSP are succumbed to challenging symptoms such as depression, memory loss, mild seizures, involuntary trembling, and muscle stiffness. The sheer valor demonstrated by ALSP patients within their everyday lives is an act of bravery I sincerely applaud. Despite the fact there is currently no cure, I commend all those endeavoring to raise awareness about ALSP and applaud their devotion to improve the health and well-being of those who have this condition. I am certain that the efforts of these advocates will continue to highlight the importance of medical research and advancements to find a cure.

As Governor, and on behalf of all citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, I am honored to support March 2022 as ALSP Awareness Month. Please accept my best wishes for continued success in your mission.

Tom Wolf
Governor
March 2022
