When Caregiving Becomes Personal

“When Loss Is Waiting Around the Corner: Understanding Anticipatory Grief” is the nineteenth webinar in our Grief Talks series from the Highmark Caring Place.

We often imagine that grief occurs only after the loss of someone or something important in our lives. Yet grief can start as soon as we become aware that death is likely or even possible.

Anticipatory grief has many of the same emotional responses as the grief that follows a death. In addition, this grief can be further complicated by the emotional and physical exhaustion of being a caregiver.

Join us to learn more about the topic of anticipatory grief and to explore ways we can support each other on this journey.

During this webinar, participants will:

  1. Define anticipatory grief.
  2. Describe the similarities between anticipatory grief and the grief that follows a death.
  3. Recognize and affirm the need for support as a caregiver.
  4. Explore ways of offering support to caregivers experiencing anticipatory grief.
